Old Load Rack Lacked Adequate Fall Protection.
A large chemical manufacturer in West Virginia called about replacing an old load rack that lacked adequate fall protection. While onsite, we realized that it wasn’t just this load spot that needed addressing. We offered solutions providing fall protection for the loading of multiple types of vehicles, not only this spot but 8-10 more onsite. We offered a solution that would allow them access ISO-tainers and tank trucks using an elevating-style platform with flip-up panels. Once the other engineers onsite saw how well this solution would solve their problems, they asked for us to quote 8-10 more locations using the same type of equipment. This customer had been under scrutiny in earlier months due to numerous safety issues that had occurred. Making sure there were no other issues at this facility was paramount. They needed something that would solve their problems and fast. After meeting with multiple decision makers, the customer decided to purchase not one, but multiple load spot solutions. It was a massive undertaking that the customer needed in 25% of the standard lead time. Drawing dates and equipment ship dates were guaranteed to meet the customer’s rigorous schedule. ALL drawings and equipment were released and shipped on the promised dates and the equipment provided the needed solution for their access and fall protection. We walked them through the installation process and made sure that all of their equipment worked correctly. We educated their operators on how to use it as well as showing them preventative maintenance recommendations. This customer has extended out huge thank you’s for helping them with what they thought was an unsolvable problem. Now that these projects are completed, the customer has approached us to work on the remaining load spots onsite. Their corporate offices have also instructed other locations to meet with us to address access and fall protection issues in those respective facilities.
