Elevating Truck Access Platform
Carbis Helps Louisiana Petrochemical Manufacturing Company Minimize Downtime with On-time Guarantee to Meet Contractual Agreements with Customers
“Timeline issues with installation can jeopardize fulfilling our contracts and cost us money…”
A petrochemical manufacturing company located in Louisiana replaced an existing Carbis fall prevention system with a modified design to improve safety and throughput at a tanker truck loading station. The scope of work involved the removal of an elevating platform, modifications to the support structure, and the installation of a modified design elevating platform. An important consideration when planning and scheduling this project was the downtime that would be experienced at this loading station. The Carbis design and installation had to be reviewed carefully to minimize this downtime. The tanker truck loading station has a high duty cycle and is used almost daily. The client could not afford to be down any longer than absolutely necessary.
This company has worked with Carbis over the years to provide safe access and fall prevention systems to provide their employees and contracts with a safe and reliable working environment. This facility has existing fall prevention systems in place to protect their workers when accessing railcars and tanker trucks. Although fall prevention systems are in place, this client is always looking for opportunities to reduce the potential for an incident or injury by upgrading system design and/or adding additional levels of protection.
When companies like these are looking to modify or replace an existing system, the potential downtime (time when the loading/unloading station is out of service) can have negative impacts to the organization. This client communicated to Carbis that these impacts can have the following negative effects:
• Loss in revenue
• Inability to realize cost savings
• Inability to meet contractual agreements with clients
• Increased liability to the organization
Carbis worked with this client to make this project a success and keep the downtime minimized by providing the following support:
• Guaranteed, on-time delivery of solution (allowed client to schedule internal/external resources)
• Engineering collaboration on modified system design
• Modified installation procedures to minimize amount of time required to perform elevating platform replacement
The petrochemical manufacturing company chose to partner with Carbis, the world leader in fall prevention solutions that specializes in customized bulk loading access equipment and turnkey systems for truck, rail, and marine applications. Carbis was chosen as it was able to provide this client with guaranteed dates for the project deliverables (approval drawings and equipment shipping) that met the operational timeline and system requirements for the project.
The results of the project include the improved tanker truck safe access, maintaining throughput for product loading, and ensuring growth and retention of their customers by fulfilling contractual agreements, adding to company profits and the bottom line.
