Truck Grounding Systems
Prevent deadly static sparks associated with static electricity while transferring flammable products.
Carbis' Earth-Rite™ Ground Monitoring System helps prevent deadly static sparks and ensures tank truck safety. Ensure the highest levels of safe, positive grounding for tank trucks during flammable transfer operations. Carbis' Earth-Rite™ Ground Monitoring System is specifically designed for tank trucks with rubber tires. For dedicated loading and unloading of rail cars or other conductive mobile tanks, IBC totes, and drums, we offer the standard Earth-Rite™ PLUS system with Single Mode (ground resistance monitoring. For complete flexibility in mixed loading applications, you can also choose the Earth-Rite™ RTR™ with additional Mode Selector Key Switch.

Overview
The new Carbis RTR represents the most advanced static hazard protection available today. The system is designed to protect plant assets and personnel from the explosive dangers of electrostatic charge build-up, which can occur during the loading/unloading of tanker trucks.
Carbis uses a patented technology to ensure that the grounding of road tankers is always reliable and safe due to a positive and verified connection to the tanker vehicle, a verified low-resistance connection to the ground, and tanker-to-grounding-point connection measuring fewer than 10 ohms that is continually monitored during the entire product transfer operation.
Once all these parameters are verified, the RTR allows the product transfer to begin. Should any static be generated on the tanker truck during the transfer operation, it is immediately transferred to the verified ground.
There is no need to install any special equipment on a tanker truck, since the Carbis RTR functions with a Universal Grounding Clamp that can be used with all the common types of bulk tankers without modification.
Tank Truck Recognition
Our Earth-Rite™ Ground Monitoring System only allows product transfer when the tank truck is grounded.
Positive Ground Recognition
Automatically confirms positive static ground connection.
Ground Connection Monitoring
Continuously monitor clamp and ground connection during transfer.
The Earth-Rite™ RTR™ ensures the highest possible levels of safe, positive grounding for tank trucks during flammable transfer operations. Unlike conventional systems, the Earth-Rite™ RTR™ provides fail safe confirmation of the static ground condition using patented Intrinsically Safe Electronics and Universal Ground Clamp.
Benefits
Static sparks and flammable liquids are a dangerous mix – protect your personnel with our truck grounding systems.
With the Earth-Rite™ RTR™ you can gain:
- Reliability: The RTR has been independently tested and approved for mounting in SIL2 rated environments confirming the Earth-Rite™’s 10 year track record of proven system reliability and performance.
- Flexibility: The RTR can be mounted at remote loading stations and connected to locally verified ground points and can reduce the cost of installation and maintenance.
- Compliancewith NFPA 77 and CENELEC 50404: The RTR enables compliance with the best practice guidelines of NFPA 77 and CENELEC 50404 which recommend that tank trucks present in hazardous atmospheres be fully grounded prior to and during the transfer of cargo.
Other features include:
Mode 1 (Tank Truck Recognition):Confirms RTR clamp is connected to tank truck and not other grounded/ungrounded objects.
Mode 2 (Positive Ground Recognition):Confirms RTR clamp is connected to tank truck and not other grounded/ungrounded objects.
Mode 3 Ground Connection Monitoring:Confirms clamp connection and ground connection are good throughout transfer process by ensuring connection resistance does not rise above 10 Ohms.
